Client's Needs
Have you ever been sold something that just wasn't quite right? Mike and Elena experienced this first hand and solicited the help from the Karbon Team to fulfill their needs. Mike originally purchased an expensive home theater in a box, a flat panel, and tried to "make it work." They subsequently returned the product and the rest is history. Mike and Elena simply desired to increase their home entertainment with a flat panel Television accompanied by a surround sound system for their Television room and something similar for their bedroom. They also wanted to add two zones of audio to the rest of the house and add the capability to plug in a mixer for running his musical instruments through the distributed audio system. Along with this they wanted to have the capability to run a media center to both systems via CAT-5 cable.
Design
The Karbon team delivered! The Television room was smaller than average with a seating distance of 8ft. We designed the system to incorporate a 42" Panasonic 500 series plasma with a definitive technology/velodyne 5.1 surround sound system. To keep this as "uncluttered" as possible, we mounted the plasma and front speakers on the wall. We then added small outlets for the rear speakers and subwoofer. We also utilized an unused closet to house a Pioneer Elite THX receiver, Oppo Upscaling DVD player, Media Center, Monster Power Conditioner, and terminate all the cabling. We then installed Pinnacle in-wall 2nd zone speakers for both the dining room and family room each with separate volume controls also driven by the Pioneer receiver. Finally, we finished it off by incorporating an IR extender on the wall to allow full control of all their equipment with their 1-button, Harmony 880 remote while keeping the closet door closed.
The Bedroom system was a similar installation but in a larger room. We designed this room to incorporate a 50" Panasonic 50 series plasma with definitive technology speakers surrounding the television and pinnacle in-ceiling rear channels. We then accented their sound and furniture by installing a matching cherry velodyne subwoofer. We also wanted to keep this room as "uncluttered" as possible. Therefore, we utilized their walk-in closet to house the Pioneer Receiver, Oppo Upscaling DVD player, Media Center, and Monster Surge Protector. We also finished this room off with an IR extender on the wall to utilize their 1-button, Harmony 880 remote while keeping the closet door closed.
